The full rundown

Moving in Long Island City: What to Expect

Long Island City is the waterfront skyline of Queens, glass luxury towers and doorman condos where the building runs the move as much as you do. Management wants a certificate of insurance on file, the freight elevator booked to a set window, and the loading dock used on schedule. A move here is about the paperwork and the timing, so Cris files the COI, reserves the elevator, and works the dock window so nothing stalls in the lobby.

What to sort out ahead of a Long Island City move

  • Buildings require a COI on file before move day
  • Freight-elevator windows are reserved and time-boxed
  • Loading docks and tight waterfront traffic set the schedule

Three ways to keep the day short

  • Send your building’s COI requirements when you book
  • Share the reserved freight-elevator window
  • Point out the loading dock or service entrance to use
Local tip: *Starting prices only. Walk-up stairs, elevator waits, and how far the carry runs can change the crew size, so we pin your exact number in a two-minute quote. See our local moving page or head back home.
Simple from the first call

Three Steps to Moving Day

From that very first hello to the final box carried through the door and set down in the right room.

1

Tell Us About the Move

Walk Cris through the shape of your move over the phone, on a quick video call, or right in the form. Back comes a fair hourly rate or a written flat quote, not a squishy figure that balloons once the truck is loaded.

2

Lock In Your Date

Claim your day and we set the right crew and truck, then sort the certificate of insurance your co-op or condo board needs, the freight-elevator reservation, and the parking on a tight one-way.

3

We Carry the Load

Cris handles the entire job himself, wrapping, loading, driving, and placing, and we route the run around the BQE, the LIE, and Northern Boulevard to keep the day on schedule.

Your Move, Fully Covered

Handled from the very first blanket we lay down to the last box set in the back room.

Fully Insured

Cargo and liability coverage rides on every job, and we run through your valuation choices together before you put your name on a single form.

Walk-Up & COI Ready

Fifth-floor walk-ups, pre-war stairwells, co-op board certificates of insurance, and reserved freight elevators, we scout the carry and handle the paperwork so a Queens apartment move never gets stuck at the stoop.

Padded & Wrapped

Each item gets blanketed, shrink-wrapped, and cinched down tight. Should something take a knock, we flag it right away and make it right.

Done Right

A straight price, an owner who takes the work personally, and no one clocks out until every last piece is exactly where you want it.

They were very efficient yet probably more careful with moving our stuff than we are. They were also friendly made a stressful day of moving much easier to deal with.

Questions We Hear a Lot

Do you move within Long Island City?

Yes, the doorman condos and high-rise towers are a big part of our week. We file the COI, book the freight elevator, and run local moves on our hourly or a flat quote from Cris. For a move that leaves New York, we base the number on weight and mileage instead.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Brisk Movers holds New York licensing and insurance, and Cris works every job through with his own crew, no broker wedged in the middle skimming a cut. Want the coverage specifics? Just ask, and we will walk through your valuation options before anything gets locked in.

My building needs a certificate of insurance and a freight-elevator booking. Can you handle that?

Yes, and it is routine for us. Most Queens co-op and condo boards want a certificate of insurance on file before move day, and a lot of towers require the freight elevator reserved to a set window. Send us the building’s requirements when you book, and Cris files the COI and books the elevator, so nothing holds you up in the lobby on moving day.

My place is a fifth-floor walk-up in a pre-war building. Can you handle it?

That is a lot of what we do. Half of Queens is pre-war walk-ups, and Cris and the crew are used to steep, narrow stairwells, tight landings, and the turns a couch or a dresser barely clears. We measure the stairwell ahead of time, pad the rails and jambs, and carry the heavy pieces down flight by flight, so a five-story walk-up never turns into a problem.

Will you handle the packing?

However much or little suits you. Want the entire apartment boxed up? Consider it done. Only the kitchen and the breakables need doing? That is fine as well. We show up with heavy-duty cartons and paper, mark every box by its room, and once the truck is unloaded we can unpack you at the new place.

Do you take on pianos, gun safes, and the really heavy stuff?

Yes, Cris takes those on all the time. Whether it is an upright or a baby grand, a loaded safe, a slate pool table, a weighty antique, or a framed canvas, each piece travels on the correct board or dolly, strapped and padded, with the path through narrow stairwells and doorways mapped out beforehand.

Can I move or cancel my date?

Absolutely. Give at least two days’ notice to move or cancel your date and the whole deposit is refunded. Each term sits in your booking in plain language, so nothing gets left to guesswork.
